Research Talks

Research presentations have been invaluable beyond just disseminating work — the comments, questions, and feedback I have received have meaningfully shaped how I think about my research problems.

Outreach Talks

Outreach is something I genuinely enjoy. Speaking to younger audiences is uniquely rewarding because their curiosity is unfiltered, and the challenge of making a difficult idea feel natural keeps me sharp. There is something deeply satisfying about making mathematics feel accessible to someone who thought it wasn’t for them.

If you have an outreach opportunity you think I’d be a good fit for, feel free to get in touch!

Outreach Activities

  • UNC Science Expo (April 2025 & 2026) — Volunteered at this annual celebration of science hosted by Morehead Planetarium, welcoming thousands of visitors for hands-on demonstrations. Represented the STOR department with interactive exhibits on topics including a mind reader, Monty Hall problem, Galton board, Traveling Salesman Problem — enjoyed by kids and adults alike.

  • UNC Engineers Week (Feb 2026) — Volunteered during this campus-wide celebration of engineering, representing the Department of Statistics and Operations Research with a focus on operations research and its applications in healthcare systems, including making hospitals function more efficiently.

  • STEMS & Tessellate, CMI (2019 – 2022) — I served as Event Coordinator and Head Organizer for CMI’s annual inter-collegiate mathematics and science festival during my undergraduate years. My responsibilities spanned end-to-end event planning, managing logistics for participants from across India, and coordinating with students, faculty, and admin. A particular highlight was organizing the STEMS Lecture Series & Camps, which brings leading researchers from top institutions worldwide to speak to high school and undergraduate students. Being on both sides of that experience, as an organizer and as a student in the audience, was deeply formative.

Beyond the organizational work, Tessellate was simply a lot of fun - a week every year when the CMI campus came alive with competitions, quizzes, talks, concerts, and the infectious energy of students who love mathematics and science. It taught me that building community around ideas is just as important as the ideas themselves, and it remains one of the experiences I look back on most fondly from my time at CMI.
